Habits are the invisible frameworks that govern our decision making and response patterns. They are built out of the mental models, social norms, cultural rituals, values and perspectives that frame our interpretation of the world, and shape our behavior. Habits can be of great benefit to us, as they are our natural way of creating decision-making efficiencies. They can also work against us, if the philosophies upon which we have built our habits are not aligned with our best interests.
Habits can show up in all areas of our lives - from the food choices we make, to the way we handle stress, to the way we interact with peers and family. Ultimately, when our habits and philosophies align with our needs in a way that is healthy, we are bringing ourselves one step closer to a state of mind-body balance, and balance with the world around us.
